Over the lifetime of the Bankdale wind turbine Ownpower Renewables aims to contribute between £150,000 - £200,000 to the Ownpower Local Energy Conservation Fund.
This funding will be used to help local households save money and reduce CO2 emissions by reducing their energy use and making use of renewable energy.
Ownpower Local Energy Conservation Fund awards grants according to the following Funding Principles:
Having an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) energy survey is a pre-requisite for receiving a grant.
Those properties closest to the turbine are given priority for support.
Properties within 1km of the turbine will be able to apply for a larger amount of funding.
Only cost-effective measures that help to reduce energy use and/or CO2 emissions will be eligible for support.
Funding Criteria
100% of the costs for an EPC energy survey will be eligible for support. (Subject to a maximum of £150 per property).
An application for funding shall be submitted together with quotations for the work and be approved by Ownpower before work is commenced.
A householder may apply for grants for more than one measure up to the maximum limit that applies to their property. The maximum grant that will be available to properties within 1.2km of the turbine is £15,000, and is £7,500 for properties beyond 1.2km.
General building work will not be eligible, but building works necessary for the installation, e.g. a structure to house an energy efficient biomass boiler, or roof works needed for the installation of solar panels, can be included in eligible costs.
Community buildings and properties that are in excess of 1.2 km from the turbine may also eligible for support in later years, subject to the availability of funds.
